What Does PSP Pandora Battery Do & Why You Need It For CFW?

Posted on 10:38 by Unknown

What is a PSP Pandora battery and what does it do?

A pandora battery is required, if you are going to install custom firmware onto a psp console that is a newer model than the psp 1000, or is on the latest official firmware version from Sony, that you prevents you to install CFW, just by using only a magic memory stick. A pandora battery allows the psp console, when inserted into the rear of the console, to be able to boot into service mode. This allows the psp to go ahead and install custom firmware onto your psp and do other malicious things.

A standard psp battery can't be used as a pandora battery, unless you open the battery up and hard mod the internal circuit, but that can be risky, as you can damage your battery. So i would suggest you that you purchase a already made pandora battery and use that for installing custom firmware.

But if you are interesting in modding your standard battery and transforming it into a special pandora battery, then open up the battery using a sharp blade. Using the sharp part of the blade to scrape the sides of the plastic around the battery, where it has been glued, so it can open up.

Then access the internal mini circuit, found inside the battery and use your blade and make a cut where the image provided below shows:

Then reassemble the battery and you have successfully created a pandora battery and saved yourself some money.

If you have finished using it, then you can restore it and transform it back into a standard battery again. As you have made the cut, you have broken the circuit. So you need to reverse what you have done to revert it back to stock. This is by getting a pencil and drawing on the cut you made, to complete the circuit.

What is Custom Firmware, (CFW) For Sony PSP Console? - Yahoo answers?

Posted on 10:28 by Unknown

What does custom firmware for psp do?

Custom firmware allows your psp console to allow you to do more things, things that you can't do with a psp console that has official firmware loaded onto it. Custom firmware allows you to play back up games from a memory stick, run homebrew applications and games, play retro games from a emulator, allows you to increase the clock speed of the CPU, gives more screen display brightness settings, a recovery menu and a bunch of other cool features.

The Sony psp comes with official firmware that is installed onto it from the factory, so all them things i mentioned that you can do, can't be done with stock firmware. This is because Sony believe that custom firmware allows more chances of piracy because people can download games from websites, from the internet and play them, without having to buy them from a game store. But if you want custom firmware for playing backups from your original games that you already own, then that is fine, you will need to install custom firmware onto your console.
Custom firmware is available for all models of the first generation psp consoles, currently excluding the vita. To install this type of firmware onto your console, you have to create a magic memory stick yourself. This is simple and it can be learned by watching some video tutorials on YouTube.

Just type into the search box on YouTube, the model number of your psp, eg '1000 or 2000' and after that type in 'How to make magic memory stick Tutorial'. Find a video with lots of views, with lots of thumps up and good comments and watch the video because it will show you step by step on how to make it. It will involve you to be downloading the CFW firmware files and placing them onto your memory stick.

You might be able to install custom firmware just like that, using only a magic memory stick, without having the need to create or buy a pandora battery from Ebay. But if your psp is on a latest Sony firmware version, then you will probably require the pandora battery, to boot your psp into service mode and install the hacked firmware.
