1) Power off your PS2 console by holding down the 'Power/Reset' button for 4 seconds. Then unplug the power cord and AV cord from the rear of the console. Unplug any controllers on memory cards inserted into front of the console.

2) You will need to dissemble your console apart. So you will need to obtain an 'F'lat' head screwdriver, to remove the plastic and rubber tabs that cover the screws and a 'Philips' head screwdriver, to open the screws that hold the console together. To begin with, turn the console upside down, so the PS2 'Logo' is facing downwards. Now you will numerous plastic and rubber tabs, which are found on the bottom side of the console.

3) You need to remove all of the tabs, so using a 'Flat' head screwdriver, pry them out one by one. Then using your 'Philips' head screwdriver, unscrew all the screws and place them into a container, so they can't get lost so easily.

4) Turn your PS2 console around and grab the top part of the left side of your PS2 with your hands and gradually pull it towards the right. Once the top part of the PS2 is completely removed, placed it down to one side.

5) Now that the insides are fully exposed, you will see the cooling fan located at the bottom left of the console, placed near a 'Silver' color heat sink. The fan will have three wires, 'Red' (12 volt power), 'Black' (ground) and 'White' (sensor). The white wire is the one that you will need to disconnect. This will trick the cooling fan to think that the console is overheating and it will run it at full speed all the time. So get a pair of 'Scissors' and snip the 'White' color wire in the middle. 2) Turn the PS2 console upside down, so the blue PS2 logo is facing downwards. Look at the disc tray, you will see two metal rods that are placed on both the left and right sides of it.

3) Get some lubrication oil and pour a sensible amount onto one end of a cotton bud. Then using the lubricated side of the cotton bud, gently run it downwards and upwards on both metal rods. This method will apply an even amount of lubrication liquid across all areas of the metal rods.

4) Now press the 'Eject' button and open and close the disc tray 6 times. This will lubricate the disc drive rods properly, so the lubrication runs all the way down the rods and into its mechanism. This will disassemble the memory card into two separate parts, the bottom part is where the circuit board is positioned in.

5) You can also remove the circuit board from the bottom part of the memory card. This is by using the 'Flat' head screwdriver, find a corner, place it underneath the circuit board, push it upwards and it will gradually remove itself from plastic.
