The TomTom sat nav uses a car symbol to represent you as a driver on the map. This helps you see what position you are on the roads while driving. Usually from the factory default settings, the car symbol is a plain and simple blue arrow. If you find that symbol looks boring, you can customize it and change it to a car or a motorcycle. If the existing symbols that are pre-installed onto your TomTom sat nav and not to your liking, you can always download some more icons for free from the internet.
1) You will need to switch on your TomTom, so hold down the 'Power' button for 3 seconds. Once you hear the drum start up sound the TomTom is switched on and you can let go of the power button.
2) Wait for the TomTom to load the map up. Then touch the middle of the screen to enter the 'Main Menu'.
3) Then using your finger select 'Change Preferences' and select 'Change Car Symbol'.
4) The screen will now display numerous cars symbols that you can choose from. Tap the 'Down' arrow on the right side of the screen to view more car symbols.
5) Once you have chosen the car symbol you want to use, select the one you like by touching it and it will now appear on the map.
