If the volume button on your Nokia n95 is not working, then the first suggestion i would always recommend to you is to flash the firmware on the mobile phone. Sometimes the firmware can get damaged and not send the correct command to make the volume button function. Flashing is a process which removes the current firmware on your Nokia n95 and replaces it with the same or newer firmware that is not damaged. In the past, i have repaired a few Nokia n95's with not working volume button problems and they were fixed by flashing the firmware on the mobile phone.
If you have flashed the firmware on your Nokia n95 with a not working volume button and still it won't function, then this can be a hardware related problem. Simply remove the battery cover and battery pack and remove the back housing of the Nokia n95; this is so you can get access to the volume button that is not working. Once removed, examine the solder joints of the volume button. Do they look broken or weak? If they do look like that, then reheat them with a heat gun or soldering iron.
If reheating the soldering joints doesn't make the volume button function, then replace the volume button.
