The maximum bid thing on Ebay allows people to bid there maximum price that they are willing to pay for an item. For example: If you see a computer screen for £20.00 and you want to pay £40.00 to secure that purchase, you can do that by typing £40.00 as your bid, that will be your maximum bid. If the bid for the computer screen goes under the £40.00 and a bidder has bid his maximum at £35.00, you will still be the highest bidder because you have placed a bid at £40.00. If somebody bids higher than £40.00 and take it to £43.89, then your maximum bid has been outbid and the bidding war starts again!
