AA and AAA batteries are both the similar because they both produce 1.5 volts on a full charge to electrical powered items, to make them operate. The only main difference between the two is that AA batteries are larger and have more mAh because of their size, which means they can hold a battery charger for longer. The AAA batteries are smaller, therefore, they don't contain high mAh, so they will die quicker. But due to their internal size, it makes them ideal, as AAA batteries can be used in small portable speaker, remote controls and toys.
You can charge AAA rechargeable batteries on a AA battery charger because the voltage that is produce for each battery compartment from the AA battery charger is 1.2 volts, the same volts a single AAA batteries requires to get charged up. I know this because i measured the volts produce for each battery compartment in the battery charger, using a handy multimeter. So yes you can charge AAA batteries on a AA battery charger and just to make sure, i tested it out for myself and it worked. But make sure that the batteries are rechargeable, if not; they could explode or catch on fire, which is not safe. One thing though, the AAA batteries won't fit into the battery compartments on the AA charger, so you will need to purchase adapters that convert a AAA battery into a AA battery.
