If your TomTom sat nav memory card has files you no longer need or use, you can free up storage space on the memory card. This can be done by formatting the sd memory card, but remember, once you have formatted that data, it can't be retrieved back onto the memory card, unless you have made a back up of the files on the computer's hard drive or on a usb flash drive. Formatting deletes all the data on the TomTom sd memory card, files like music, images, maps and voices, so make sure your 100% certain about applying a format.
Instructions:
1)Power off your TomTom sat nav, then remove the sd memory card from the TomTom, this is by pushing it in, it will then eject out.
2)Insert the memory card into a memory card reader and connect it via usb, to your computer or laptop.
3)Then Windows explorer will automatically find the TomTom sd memory card, it will have a name, for example "Removable drive F".
4)Go into "My Computer", then find the memory card, right click using your mouse and click "Format".
5)Then a format screen menu will come up, then you will need to click onto the "Start" Button".
5)The formatting process will begin, once it is done, it will notify you, as a message will display saying "Format Complete".
