A air filter cleans the air that is going into the car engine, the air that either comes from the fuel injectors or the carburetor. The air filter cleans the air that will be mixed with the fuel, to overall create the combustible gas that provides power to your car engine. The more cleaner the air is, the more fuel consumption your car will give out, and more performance. After some daily use of your car, the air filter will become dirty; usually giving it a clean with hot water and soap can make it brand new again. But if the car filter is too dirty and the black gunk won't come off, it will need to be changed with a brand new replacement air filter. On average, a car air filter should be changed every 15,000 to 25,000 miles on your car, or once a year, if you don't want to regularly monitor how much mileage your car does every month.
