It is very important to demagnetize a tape deck head every so often because they can become magnetized from the passage of the tape through the deck. If this happens, your tape player will cause a reduction in sound quality, it can also lead to cassette playback problems, which can cause film inside tapes to get tangled. But this problem can be dealt with cassette demagnetizer, which can be bought from all good audio shops.
Instructions on how to clean a tape deck head using it:
1)Make sure the tape deck is powered on and press down the eject button to remove your cassette.
2)Next insert the cassette demagnetizer into the tape deck and press down the play button.
3)Let the cassette play for 30 seconds and then remove it, by pressing down the eject button.
4)Then store the cassette demagnetizer in the metal shield it came with, this is to prevent the device to erasing magnetic recordings, by accident.
