You can charge non rechargeable normal alkaline batteries, but it is not recommended because they will overheat and explode and can cause a fire, which is not safe! The toxic chemicals that are contained in a non rechargeable alkaline battery are dangerous because if the non rechargeable battery actually explodes onto your skin, it can irritate or burn your skin, as it contains corrosive chemicals. Charging these types of batteries can also cause damage to your battery charger, as it can cause a minor short circuit to occur. The reason why you can't charge these type of normal alkaline batteries is because the chemicals inside the battery and not meant to be charged up and discharged, again and again. There are some people that think so because they have charged a normal alkaline battery and it has worked for them. But eventually the acid inside the battery will react, it will then overheat and it will randomly explode. So don't try it, if you want to batteries that you can charge up, when they are dead, buy some proper NiCad rechargeable batteries that match your battery charger.
