Most usb memory sticks have a led light to indicate when the usb is recognized. If your usb memory stick's led light is not lighting up and it is recognized by your computer or laptop, then the led can be damaged. Sometimes manufacturers use the cheapest components that they can buy, so they can make more profit, so there could be a slight possibility that your usb flash drive has a cheap led light inside the usb, which can have poor build quality. Led stands for light emitting diode and is supposed to last forever, but sometimes it can become faulty, broken or cheaply made, which can be causes to stop it from lighting up eventually.
How to repair a usb stick that is not lighting up:
1)Dissemble your usb flash drive, most of them are simple to open, simply push a flat head screwdriver into the sides of the usb and it should dissemble itself.
2)Once dissembled, locate the led on the circuit board, once found, using a soldering iron, reheat the solder that is holding the led onto the circuit board and using a tweezer remove it.
3)Now clean up the old solder connections that are remaining on the circuit board and place the replacement led and solder it onto the circuit board.
4)Reassemble your memory stick and test if it works.
