If the cooling fan on either a fat or slimline console ps2 is not working, your PlayStation 2 console can overheat and get damaged.
Sometimes the overheating fan on a ps2 console can stop working because of a connector that has become loose from the socket. In order to identify if this is this problem for your ps2 console, you will need to dissemble your console and locate the overheating fan. Once you have located the fan, there will be a 2 pin connector for the fat style ps2 and a 3 pin connector for a slimline ps2, which connects into a socket on the motherboard. Sometimes it can be loose, so make the sure the connector is firmly connected into the socket.
